1) TĀhuhu kŌrero / Background
Robina Needham has advised that this is a private road created by a sub-division addressed at 54-56 Puketona Road, Paihia.
Community Boards have delegated authority to name private roads.
The name Oslo comes from the previous owners of 54-56 Puketona Road - Freddy and Carol Osler-Weppenaar - are internationally renowned trapeze artists, who performed to great acclaim (including winning the 1978 Circus World Championships) as “The Flying Oslers”. On retiring from the international circuit, they chose to make Paihia their home, purchasing 54-56 Puketona Road and building “Action World”, an innovative outdoor activity park. For over 14 years it provided adventure and entertainment to local children, families and visiting tourists; a true community asset. Naming the private way “Osler Avenue" recognises the Osler-Weppenaar’s decade and contribution to the local community and honours the love and respect in which they are held for employing and mentored young locals, helping local Maori initiatives, and supporting local schools.
The background for these names is given also as per the Road Naming application attached (A3311279)
2) matapaki me NgĀ KŌwhiringa / Discussion and Options

1. Oslo Avenue
2. Oslo Way
3. Oslo Lane
