·         Co-Chair Hilda Halkyard-Harawira acknowledged the passing of James Cross. Morehu MacDonald, Lady Arapera Sharples and those who have pass on throughout the district.

·         Co-Chair Pita Tipene mentioned  that NRC & Council need to work better on flooding and other things.

a)      adopts the proposal in attachment 2 to be released for public consultation to meet the requirements of section 82 of the Local Government Act 2002.

b)      approves, the period for making written submissions on the proposal will be a minimum of 4 weeks.

c)      delegates authority to the Mayor to decide on the date of oral presentation/s of submissions.

d)      authorises the Chief Executive to make any necessary minor drafting or presentation amendments to the proposal to correct errors or omissions, or to reflect the decisions made by the Council prior to final publication and public release.

Co-Chair Pita Tipene gave a verbal Te Kahu o Taonui (TKoT) Report

·         TKoT’s last meeting was held on 29 May and hosted by Ngati Wai.

·         Whaea Katie Murray was confirmed as Chair.

·         TKoT are undergoing a strategic review and refresh of key portfolio areas as well as how it works with local/central government.

·         TKoT will continue to attend with strategic intent and Pita noted that there is a meeting with key Crs, staff and TKoT representatives on 8 July to set the Strategic Intent of Te Kuaka Te Ao Māori Committee going forward.

The meeting closed at 12:50pm.
