- Acknowledged the reopening of Te Hurihanga ā Kawharu State Highway 1 Brynderwyns.
- Mentioned Te Huinga Whetu National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka competition taking place in Nelson.
- Acknowledged Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Kaikohe, Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Rāwhitiroa and Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Rangianiwaniwa, who are representing us. This evening we find out who will go through to Final Top 9.
- Mentioned that Te Rarawa are celebrating their opening of the Digital Repository at Te Ahu.

- Acknowledged the passing of Freda Evans and sent condolences to her whānau.

Chief Executive Officer - Guy Holroyd
- Mentioned the good results for the communities and residents of the Far North after the rates were struck.
- His one year anniversary at Council.
Deputy Chair - Hilda Halkyard-Harawira
- Acknowledged those who have recently passed away: Boy Beazley, Hone Pene and Dunn Mihaka.
- Acknowledged the meeting was held in Te Kao, Te Aupouri celebrating Mariameno Kapa-Kingi who stepped down from Te Rūnanga o Whaingaroa.
- Mentioned the many hui Māori she has attended over the last few weeks.
- Acknowledged Katie Murray and her hard work with the opening of Waitomo Papakainga.
- Acknowledged Hone Dalton and his attendance at this hui today.
Member - Toa Faneva (Te Kahu o Taonui)
- Acknowledged Kaiwhakawhiti Reo Kawiti Waetford for the opening karakia and Cr Rākena for his opening mihi.
- Acknowledged Matua Kipa, Sophie Thomas and Hone Dalton for their attendance today.
- Shared that there is a lot happening in Whangaroa and that a Board meeting was held on Monday 24th June.
- Mentioned Te Kotahitanga Kahukuraariki Papa Hapū and Te Rūnanga o Whaingaroa coming together to agree on common priorities.

Kōwhai/Deputy Mayor - Kelly Stratford
- Acknowledged the Citizenship Ceremony this week. 4 people do their oath in Te Reo Māori.
- Mentioned Relationship Roadshow which was about listening and talking to Iwi and Hapu.
- Tsunami alarm upgrades are being rolled out across Whangarei at the moment, this is still in the consenting phase for Northland so if members are aware of, or hear of any issues, let her know.
Chairperson - Harry Burkhardt
- Had the privilege of responding to the Fast Track Approval Bill, Māori Wards Bill, and the Water Services Preliminary Bill. Each was a reminder of two things:
o Iwi/Hapu hold a relationship with the Crown and
o we have a strong and flourishing relationship with local and territorial authorities.
- Met with Murray Bane to review Far North Holding Limited. The singular message is ensure that the notions that have been discussed here at Te Kuaka are fed back to those CCO.
- Iwi and Hapu are being asked to attend a number of regional conversations.
- Mentioned a deputation to the Transport and Infrastructure Committee regarding the building of a 4 lane highway from Warkworth to Kaikohe.
- Small roopu went to Honolulu and met with whānau from Rapa Nui, Tonga, Samoa, Niue, Tuvalu, Guam, Melanesia and Pilau to take a voyaging narrative beyond the horizon and report back. What that report back looks like is that there are people out there who think like us, look like us, speak like us and have the same pain points as us. The take-away was that they’re not as angry as us. They have different reflections on the same kaupapa with the same narratives.

Note: Lake Omapere Trust requested that someone be appointed as a representative of the Far North District Council (FNDC) and Northland Regional Council (NRC) so that both entities have a voice from and are feeding back to their respective tables.
Note: that Te Kuaka supports the Lake Omapere Trust in their kaupapa and secondly to create a wider collective that allows FNDC and NRC to participate in a supportive not dictatorial role, building on Guy’s notion to deliver on the aspirations of Lake Omapere Trust’s kaupapa.
