3            NGĀ KŌRERO / Chairperson ANNOUNCEMENTS

Kahika Moko Tepania

Deputy Chairperson Hilda Halkyard-Harawira

·         Acknowledging everyone in the room and the work ahead of us. Acknowledge Mariameno for her new role.

·         Acknowledge Frank Herbert, Paulette Montino who have passed away

·         Turn our minds to Moka Puru, the partner of Hine Puru who has passed away and a lot of the work that he has done over the years for us in the North

·         There is a lot to be said about Papa Moka, and it’s sad that he has passed before the next report for Te Paparahi o Te Raki comes through. But other than the highs and the lows, we carry on

Cr Tāmati Rākena

·         I just want to give a brief update of an event that Ngāti Kaharau and Ngāti Hau and Te Mauri o Te Wai had yesterday at Te Raupō regarding our Wastewater Treatment plant there

·         For the wastewater treatment consent we saw the consent reduced from 35 to 15 to 3 years so I am looking forward to working over the coming years with hapū and community to uphold the aspirations of that area for wastewater treatment processes

·         It was great to see a youthful presence at these events as a way of succession planning for the leaders who will take on these workstreams in the future

Mariameno Kapa-Kingi

·         Acknowledgements to all who are present today, and those who are in a state of grieving at this time but also acknowledging our young generations who are coming through

·         Excited for her new role as the MP for Te Tai Tokerau representing Te Pāti Māori

·         Acknowledging new Chair for Northland Regional Council Geoff Crawford
